It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.
Albus Dumbledore (PS/SS)

Harry Potter

If you haven't read the series yet, I recommend it. It isn't just a children's story, it has elements of comedy, drama, mystery and romance all mixed together in a consistent magical world. J. K. Rowling had this series planned out seventeen years ago, and has been very careful not to let anything out that would give away the ending, so I won't either. The best way to encounter this magical world is to sit down with the books and read. The movies are good, but they had to leave so much out.

I ordered my copy of "Deathly Hallows" the first day it was offered, back in Febuary. There were about 10,000 copies pre-ordered that day. By the date of relese Amazon alone had 2.2 million copies sold. My copy was in my mail box the morning of the release, and I spent the next thirteen hours reading it.

On September 10th, 2007, Warner Brothers announced the first five Harry Potter movies had grossed more than all of the Star Wars, or James Bond movie series, and is now number one! There are still two movies left, and the next is due out November 21, 2008.

Harry Potter - $4.47 Billion for five films
James Bond - $4.44 Billion for 22 films
Star Wars - $4.23 Billion for 6 films

If you are a fan, and haven't discovered MuggleNet and MuggleCast, you've got to check them out! The amount of effort put into that site is astounding. I check the MuggleNet news at least daily, and look forward to the weekly MuggleCast, usually released on Sunday evening.

Another great site to visit is the The HP Lexicon. It is hard to beat a plug like this: "This is such a great site that I have been known to sneak into an Internet cafe while out writing and check a fact rather than go into a bookshop and buy a copy of Harry Potter (which is emabrrassing)." A website for the dangerously obsessive; my natural home. -- J.K. Rowling.
